READY TO SCORE GOALS

Louis has made all the right noises in his first interview. He hopes to score lots of goals in the number 9 shirt alongside the Yak.
Louis says: “I am very happy to be here. It is a big club with big, support. I think it is a club which is trying to reach the top. I have spoke with the manager and was very impressed with him. We spoke about the players and the club is moving in the right direction. I know of the history with the number 9 shirt. It was my number at Manchester United. I am aware of the pressure of it, but I'm happy with it. I hope to score many goals. Yakubu is a great asset to have. I hope we have a good partnership. I see the great team spirit. I've seen it every time I play here at Goodison Park. So now I hope to enjoy myself here. I hope to be fit to play in 1, 2, 3 weeks or maybe a bit more.”

RECORD DEAL DELIGHTS MOYES

David Moyes has expressed his delight at smashing the Club transfer record to sign Marouane Fellaini - a player he has been tracking for two years.
Everton paid £15m to bring the Belgian international to the Club from Standard Liege on transfer deadline day.
Moyes revealed he had a long-standing interest in the midfielder, but added that the Uefa Cup draw had almost scuppered the move.
The manager said: "It was a very long day but it all proved worthwhile.
“Our interest hasn’t only just materialised - we have been chasing him for two years and keenly watched his development.
“Recent games have shown what he is all about and the hard part has been getting him here. We initially made contact with Standard two weeks ago but then we drew them in the Uefa Cup and that really complicated things.
“It has taken some long, hard negotiations to get him. Standard had made it clear that under no circumstances did they want to sell him. But we were desperate to sign him and it took a real big effort from the board and the chairman to get there.”
Fellaini is a Belgian international who Moyes expects to make a major impact on Everton's midfield this season.
“We had other targets but this was the one that we wanted,” continued the boss. “I’m really, really happy. We are all looking forward to seeing him in action.”
“Marouane is someone who will definitely increase to the quality we have,” Moyes added. “In an ideal world, I would have liked to add another of his type but that wasn’t to be. With a bit of time to settle in, I’m sure he will prove to be worth the wait.”

SAHA NEARING FULL FITNESS

New Everton striker Louis Saha will be ready for first-team action by the end of September.
That is the opinion of the Club's head physio Mick Rathbone.
Frenchman Saha became David Moyes' No 9 on Monday when he completed a move from Premier League rivals Manchester United.
The 30-year-old had an injury-affected four-year spell at Old Trafford but Rathbone is pleased with the condition of the player.
"Louis looks in pretty good shape," he told evertonTV. "But he's probably a little bit off [a first-team appearance].
"He's had a few niggles and a bit of a calf strain so we'll probably keep him back for a couple of weeks to make sure he's flying and he hits the ground running.
"We're assessing him day by day, but I don't think there's much sense in pushing him to hard, too soon."

FELLAINI BECOMES RECORD SIGNING

Everton have smashed the Club record transfer fee after completing the signing of Belgian international Marouane Fellaini from Uefa Cup opponents Standard Liege.
The deal was completed by Chairman Bill Kenwright and manager David Moyes in the hours leading up to Monday’s transfer deadline and was the culmination of hard work that started over the course of the weekend.
Club officials confirmed the deal in the early hours of Tuesday morning and Fellaini joins the Blues for an initial fee of 18.5 million euros (£15 million) that will rise throughout the deal, putting pen to paper on a five year deal at Goodison Park.
Acting Chief Executive Robert Elstone said: “This is fantastic news for everyone connected with the Club. We have signed one of European football’s most exciting prospects who will have a huge part to play at Everton over the next five years.
“I spoke with Bill Kenwright and David Moyes shortly after concluding the deal and they are delighted we have managed to secure his services. It came late on, like a lot of the big deals in the Premier League, but he’s with us and we look forward to welcoming him to Goodison.”
Still only 20, Fellaini made 84 appearances for the Belgian champions - Everton's forthcoming opponents in Round One of the Uefa Cup - scoring 11 times.
He impressed in his former club's narrow Champions League defeat to Liverpool last month, and was the subject of reported interest from Tottenham and Aston Villa.
Last year he made his debut for Belgium, and has now made 10 appearances, also featuring at the recent Beijing Olympics where he was sent off in the opening game for two yellow cards against Brazil.
In his homeland he has developed a reputation for his high quality midfield performances, and at well over six foot he will add a real physical presence to Moyes’ side.
Fellaini’s arrival at Everton was the third signing made by the Club on the final day of the transfer window, coming hours after Carlo Nash joined from Wigan Athletic which followed confirmation of Louis Saha’s move from Manchester United.

CAHILL'S GREEN LIGHT

David Moyes has received a timely boost with the news Tim Cahill has returned to full training.
The Australian international has been sidelined since May following surgery on a troublesome metatarsal.
But, having received the green light from his surgeon, the midfielder is now back among his team-mates - and homing in on a first-team return.
"Tim's back in full training," head physio Mick Rathbone told evertonTV. "He's been training the last couple of days in fact.
"He got the go ahead from his surgeon in Sydney, who we sent the latest batch of X-rays to a week or so ago. He's emailed us back having reviewed them and he's delighted with the progress of the repair."

Having work closely with Cahill throughout his rehabilitation, Rathbone says a return to action will be just reward for the hard work and commitment shown by the player.
"He's trained brilliantly and he looks in very good shape. He's excelled at all the conditioning exercises and he's been champing at the bit to get back involved.
"All players want to play and he's had a lot of problems with that foot. But hopefully it's sorted now.
"The previous surgery hadn't really solved the problem but this was advanced, almost revolutionary surgery, and - touch wood - it looks good."
Subscribers can now see our entire interview with Mick Rathbone on evertonTV.
